OSTA's Board Of Directors Wants You The OSTA Board of Directors wants you, our membership and residents of Oregon’s manufactured home parks, to know that at a recent Board meeting we recommitted ourselves to the mission of OSTA and the need to strengthen ourselves to meet the increasing demands created by park closures and threats of closures across the state. Our staff person, Pat Schwoch, and volunteers have worked tirelessly to represent you and the best interests of all park residents through the legislative process. We have an excellent reputation and respect at the Capitol for tenacity, getting things done and integrity. This has been a sure and steady process, as OSTA turns 30 this year! It is OSTA’s belief that in order to make the most progress, it needs to be done by trying first to work with landlords/owners to affect positive change where possible. This also makes for a much more comfortable situation in which residents can live. Several years ago OSTA and the Park Owners Association were directed, in fact warned, by a prominent Oregon Senator that unless we were willing to come to them with requests and solutions for residents that both could live with that neither side would be heard. At this point the two factions decided to pool their efforts and work for more win-win solutions. Hence, the birth of the Landlord Tenant Coalition. It is the Coalition’s Bill (2735) that so many across the state have been supporting this session including many affordable housing non-profits, a number of Senators (22 at last count), Oregon Legal Aide, and many other manufactured housing supporters.
